  Getting children to read and write can be a daunting, nagging task.  Our mission is to create books that kids (reluctant and ravenous readers) can’t wait to get their hands on. Carolyn was a reporter with the Chicago Tribune for 12 years. Her empathetic interviewing skills and poignant writing earned her numerous state and national writing awards, a nomination for the Pulitzer Prize in 2006, and the Beck Award, the Tribune’s highest honor for domestic reporting. Nothing has made her happier than creating a company that allows her to spend more time with her family. Carolyn, and her husband, John, a photojournalist, have two grade-school daughters, and reside in the Chicago area.
